Meet Sakib

My name is Sakib (Sah-kib) Shaikh.

I am a father of three girls, a husband, a brother, a child of immigrants, a businessman, and a community leader.

I graduated from Clark and Marshall High Schools, earned a degree in Political Science from UTSA, and completed a Master’s in International Economics from St. Mary’s University. I’ve had the opportunity to travel and study in countries like Mexico, Japan, China, and India, but no matter where I’ve gone, my heart has always been in San Antonio.

For 25 years, I’ve lived in and around District 8, witnessing its growth and changes.

I served as the Director of Constituent Services for District 8, working directly with our community to address their needs. My day-to-day interactions introduce me to everyone from well-known business leaders to your next-door neighbors, keeping me in the loop of diverse perspectives within our district.

I own a family-run business, work as a realtor, manage properties, and have worked with Fortune 500 companies. Throughout San Antonio I have worked to connect communities — from religious institutions and mosques to future local leaders. These roles keep me deeply connected to my neighbors and aware of the challenges we face. It has deepened my commitment to supporting local businesses, enhancing our neighborhoods, and ensuring attainable, quality housing for all.

I am eager to continue hearing from our community and working together to make District 8 a place where every voice is not only represented, but valued and understood.

I am ready to bring my experience and dedication to the City Council, working tirelessly to make District 8 an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. Let’s build a brighter future for our community.
