Sakib Shaikh Outraises Opponents, Engages New Voters and Donors

San Antonio, TX – July 17, 2024 – Sakib Shaikh, candidate for San Antonio’s District 8 City Council, has set a new standard in the local political landscape by outraising his opponents and securing more cash on hand than 10 out of 11 current councilmembers. This achievement highlights his strong grassroots support and ability to engage new voters and donors in the political process.

With a total of $46,750 raised from 198 donors, Sakib’s campaign has demonstrated a broad base of financial backing. Notably, 65% of these contributions come from San Antonio and neighboring communities, and 37% from within District 8 itself. This level of local support underscores the community’s belief in Sakib’s vision and leadership.

“I am humbled and grateful for the overwhelming support from our community,” said Sakib Shaikh. “Our campaign is driven by genuine grassroots support, which shows that people believe in our message and our commitment to making District 8 and San Antonio better for everyone.”

Unlike traditional campaigns, Sakib’s funding comes entirely from community contributors, with no donations from lobbyists or perennial political donors. Following the release of his finance report, Sakib has been invited to meet with several major donors, further solidifying his position as the frontrunner in this race. His focus on community support before seeking backing from the political establishment sets him apart and speaks to his dedication to authentic representation and leadership.

“We are building a campaign that includes everyone, especially those who have felt excluded from the political process,” Sakib continued. “This campaign is about bringing all voices into the conversation and making sure every resident of District 8 feels heard and valued.”

With more cash on hand than 10 out of 11 current councilmembers, Sakib Shaikh’s campaign is not just a contender but a leading force in the upcoming election. His ability to mobilize and engage new voters and donors is a testament to his commitment to inclusive and effective governance.
